How to Use MathQuest

Quick start

1. Create a family account.
2. Add a child profile.
3. Choose broad practice categories.
4. Complete the starting assessment.
5. Practice for 5 minutes, 3-5 days per week.
6. Review parent updates.

What your child does

Parent setup

MathQuest starts with a family account. From there, parents can add children, set practice minutes, choose a language, enter the child's age, and select broad practice categories such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division readiness.

A child PIN is optional. It is a simple 4-digit code that helps siblings avoid accidentally using the wrong profile.

Starting assessment

The starting assessment helps MathQuest place the child on a reasonable practice path. It is not meant to label the child. It simply gives the app a better starting point. Parents can request a fresh assessment later from the Parent Dashboard.

Practice rounds

Practice opens in Math Focus Mode. Children answer one problem at a time during a short timer. They can press Enter to submit, use Skip / Don't Know when they are stuck, or use Finish Early if the round needs to stop.

At the end, MathQuest shows the result, awards Star Tokens, updates skill progress, and continues the Companion Journey when the round is eligible.

As your child practices, MathQuest updates skill progress. Future rounds are adjusted based on what your child has practiced, missed, skipped, or shown readiness for. Parents can also adjust broad practice categories from the Parent Dashboard.

Companion Journey

Each eligible practice round unlocks a companion moment. The journey begins with a mystery egg, so the child does not know the animal type right away. When the egg hatches, it may reveal a dragon, sea turtle, or owl journey.

After hatching, children name the companion, choose its first look, and continue caring for and training it through short practice rounds. The goal is consistency and curiosity, not perfection. Mistakes become practice information, not punishment.

Parent Dashboard

Parent mode includes a child selector, practice plan, learning progress, Companion Journey status, PIN and security settings, and reset tools. It is the best place to adjust the child's path without interrupting the child-facing experience.

The Parent Dashboard may also show AI Coach notes when available, helping parents understand what the app is seeing in the child's progress and why certain skills may be practiced or reviewed.

Email updates

Parents can receive summaries after practice rounds, including early finish notices, missed questions, skill details, and Companion Journey progress. These updates are meant to make it easier to support the child without hovering during the round.

Suggested routine

Tips

• Start with 5 minutes.
• Praise effort, focus, and persistence.
• Do not overreact to one low score.
• Adjust broad categories if the work feels too easy or too hard.
• Use the mystery animal journey as a motivator for returning tomorrow.
