MathQuest helps children build core math fluency through quick adaptive practice rounds, parent-guided settings, and a personalized Mystery Egg companion journey that gives kids a reason to come back.
In short
MathQuest is designed for 5-10 minutes of focused practice at a time. Children answer math facts in a distraction-free round, the app adjusts future practice based on their progress, and each completed round continues their Mystery Egg companion journey. Parents get updates and can adjust the child's practice path.
Why I built it
I am a homeschooling father of two children, and I was looking for a better way to give them daily, consistent practice with core math facts. I could have printed worksheets every day, but I wanted something more useful: time-based practice, problems that intelligently adapt to what each child needs, and a little bit of fun and motivation so they would actually want to come back.
MathQuest started as something I built for my own family. Based on feedback from other parents, I am now opening a small pilot to see whether it can help other families too.
Why math facts matter
Core math facts are not all of math, but they are one of the foundations that make harder math easier. When children can quickly recall addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, they have more mental energy available for word problems, fractions, decimals, algebra, and real problem solving.
MathQuest is meant to complement, not replace, good math instruction, discussion, manipulatives, and conceptual learning.
How it works
- Parent creates a family account.
- Parent adds a child profile and chooses broad practice areas.
- The child completes a short starting assessment.
- The child practices in Math Focus Mode for 5-10 minutes.
- MathQuest reviews progress and adjusts future practice.
- Each completed round unlocks the next companion journey moment.
- Parents receive updates and can adjust settings.
Math Focus Mode removes distractions during the round. The companion journey is motivation, not the main task. Practice comes first; the story is the reward.
What makes MathQuest useful
Adaptive problem selection
Practice is guided by assessment results, parent-selected readiness areas, skill history, missed questions, skipped questions, and AI-assisted review when enabled.
Short daily habit
MathQuest is designed for realistic family use: 5-10 minutes, a few times per week.
Parent visibility
Parents receive practice summaries, including questions missed and whether a round ended early.
Motivation without pressure
Children progress through a Mystery Egg companion journey by completing practice. The companion does not punish mistakes or missed days.
Who it is for
MathQuest is currently best for children who are ready to practice arithmetic facts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is especially useful for families who want a simple, repeatable way to build math fluency without long worksheets.
During the pilot, I am especially interested in feedback from families with elementary-age children.
Private pilot
MathQuest is currently in a friends-and-family pilot. That means it is free to try, still improving, and I am actively looking for honest feedback. If something is confusing, too easy, too hard, or not working well on your device, that feedback is exactly what I need.
